We are a mobile micro-publisher of digital apps, books, and magazines for smart devices focused on healthy living. We like to think of ourselves as a 21st century publisher focusing on bites of bytes.
Thriving Media was founded by Stephanie Quilao originally for her dream of building a blog empire, but in 2011 a coconut hit her in the head and she saw that mobile is the future. In "The Graduate," Mr. McGuire said plastics was the future. In 2011, we think mobile is where everything is moving particularly in the area of micro-publishing of digital books, magazines and apps. There are no more pages nor boxes of CDs to download software. We also love the idea of not killing any more trees or creating more landfill with paper.
Everything is turning into bytes coming through in your hand either through a smartphone, tablet or eReader.
The focus of our books are mini-books 10-30,000 words at price points $4.99 and under. Our magazines will also be shorter format ranging under 100 pages. We believe that shorter books and magazines are better designed for the shorter attention spans most people experience on their mobile devices. Also, there is no rule that says small can't be impactful.
Twitter and Yoda taught us the impact of little.
The apps we will publish will start off on the iPhone and eventually move onto Android and Windows Phone. We are publishing books, magazines and apps because we think they make nice complements to each other. Books and magazines are about philosophy and a corresponding app will put that philosophy into action.
We are brand spanking new launching in 2012. Stay tuned for more!
